Whether it is a silly song to sing while on a hike, a song for a special ceremony, fun songs to sing around a campfire, or action-packed songs for a troop meeting, Girl Scouts love to sing! The following is a few of our favorite Girl Scout songs; many of which have been handed down and passed along. This means that the words of songs may have changed a bit. If you like the way you learned a song, by all means continue singing it that way.
Banana Song (Song leader says and girls repeat. Use this video on YouTube to learn the motions.)
This is a repeat after me song (girls repeat)
This is also a do as I do song (girls repeat)
Bananas unite (girls repeat)
Bananas split (girls repeat)
Peel bananas, peel, peel bananas (girls repeat)
Bite bananas, bite, bite bananas (girls repeat)
Chew bananas, chew, chew bananas (girls repeat)
Swallow bananas, swallow, swallow bananas (girls repeat)
Digest bananas, digest, digest bananas (girls repeat)
Go bananas, go, go bananas (girls repeat)
Girl Scout Smile Song (Many people Know this as the Brownie Smile Song, but multi-level troops may want to change the words to Girl Scouts instead of Brownies. Use this video on YouTube to learn the motions.)
I have something in my pocket that belongs across my face.
I keep it very close to me in the most convenient place.
I'm sure you wouldn't guess it if you guessed a long, long while.
So, I'll take it out and put it on - it's a great big Girl Scout smile.
The Frog Song (This is to the tune of the Brownie (Girl Scout) Smile Song.)
I have something in pocket that I found behind a log.
My leader said to let it loose but I want to keep my frog.
It's cool and green and slimy,
and it squiggles in my hand.
I also have a wooly worm and a pocket full of sand.
Bug Juice (This is to the tune of On Top of Old Smokey)
At camp with my Girl Scouts,
They gave a drink.
We thought it was Kool-aid
Because it was pink.
But the thing that they told us,
Would gross out a moose.
For that great tasting pink drink,
Was really bug juice!
It looked fresh and fruity,
Like tasty Kool-aid.
But the bugs that were in it,
Were murdered with raid.
We drank by the gallons.
We drank by the tons.
But then the next morning,
We all had the runs.
Next time you drink bug juice,
And a fly drives you mad.
He's just getting even,
Because we swallowed his dad.
G for Generosity (Use this video on YouTube for the melody.)
Hooray for Girl Scouts.
Hooray for Girl Scouts.
Someone's in the stands yelling hooray for Girls Scouts!
1-2-3-4, who you gonna yell for?
Girl Scouts! That's us!
She wears a G for Generosity.
She wears an I for interest, too.
She wears and R for real fine sportsmanship,
She wears and L or loyality...for loyalty.
She wears and S for her sincerity.
She wears a C for courtesy.
She wears and O-U-T for outdoor life...outdoor life,
And that Girl Scout is ME!
Bless Our Friends (Grace) (To the tune of Edelweiss)
Bless our friend,
Bless our food.
Come, O Lord, and sit with us.
May our talk, glow with peace,
Bring your love to surround us.
Friendship and peace,
May it bloom and grow.
Bless our friend,
Bless our food.
Bless our loved ones forever.
